Who you are.

You are an experienced, data-centric Senior Data Manager who will hit the ground running to support the organization’s efforts to maintain leadership in the employee health engagement SaaS industry. You have a deep understanding of data, analytics and technology, as well as data governance and data management experience. This role will be responsible for the design, structure, maintenance and additions to one or more discrete databases. The incumbent will be able to interpret how data changes/additions will impact the team and database, clearly communicate that impact, make recommendations then implement those recommendations. We are looking for someone who is self-directed and thrives working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, in which expectations are high both for the quality and speed of work.  A successful candidate will have a hunger for continuous learning, a desire to grow and lead, and strong interpersonal relationship skills.


In the individual contributor role of a Senior Data Manager, you will wear many hats and the following skills and abilities are crucial:

  • Strong command of SQL (AWS Redshift preferred)
  • Able to write efficient and clean ETL code that consolidates and cleans disparate, messy data sources
  • Ability to explore new external data sources and establish new processes to integrate
  • Deep knowledge and experience in designing and maintaining relational databases
  • Ability to translate research and analytical projects business requirements into database needs
  • Design, deploy, test, and manage scalable cloud-based data pipelines
  • Offers ideas for use of new technologies to optimize processes and automate tasks
  • Set up, test and maintain database backup and recovery systems and processes
  • Experience with AWS data products/services or the aptitude to self-teach on new technologies the team could implement 
  • Troubleshoot and perform data audits to ensure and improve data integrity
  • Investigate, own and resolve data discrepancies by providing reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
  • Creates and maintains technical reference documentation such as a data dictionary and ERD
  • Work with data scientists to stand up critical infrastructure for our production predictive models as well as understand infrastructure needs and develop new summary tables, surface new metrics, etc. accordingly
  • Work with Insights departmental processes, projects and programs using Smartsheet, MS and Atlassian toolsets to keep projects and milestones on schedule, our collaborative and internal work organized as well as externally facing documentation comprehensive, updated, and accessible
  • Achieve annual Key Performance Indicator objectives, which can include report volumes and scope, internal and external client satisfaction, introducing new areas of data and analysis, and influencing company product and process decisions


What you bring to the team 

To represent the best of what we have to offer, you come to us with a multitude of positive attributes, including:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or related field; further Advanced degree is a plus
  • A minimum of seven years of work experience in a similar path, history of increasing responsibilities a plus;
  • Must be proficient with ANSI standard SQL and be able to troubleshoot and tune SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, indexes, functions, and be able to identify and resolve performance issues; Redshift preferred
  • Must be proficient with data architecture/design principles and have the ability to clearly understand logical and physical data modeling techniques
  • Working knowledge of AWS technologies is a plus!
  • Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python or R) is a plus!
  • Employee health management/health engagement industry preferred
  • Experience in managing medium and large-scale analytics projects from end to end
  • Experience with clinical/medical data and work in employee health management/health engagement industry preferred
  • Comfort working in a global environment with remote team
